An RV turns a festival weekend into something you can actually sleep through. You get a real bed, shade that doesn't blow away, a fridge, and a door that locks. It also costs more and takes more planning than people expect, so here's the honest version.
First: does your fest even allow RVs?
Not all of them do. Coachella says it plainly: no RV or motorhome camping, and no vehicles with toilets. Stagecoach, on the same Indio grounds, does sell RV spots. Here's where some big fests stand, from their official pages:
- EDC Las Vegas: yes, Camp EDC "Bring Your Own RV," $796.45 all-in for 4 nights before tax, power add-on extra.
- Bonnaroo: yes, all 2026 RV passes were powered, from $1,255.
- Electric Forest: yes, GA RV and Powered RV passes plus Good Life options.
- Stagecoach: yes, it sells reserved RV lots. Check its official site for current prices.
- Lost Lands: yes, with or without hookups.
- Hulaween: yes, a Dry RV Pass (no hookups).
- Lightning in a Bottle: yes, powered and no-power RV passes.
- Shambhala: yes, vehicle camping passes bought at the gate.
- Bass Canyon: yes, RVs in every camping area, plus The Grove RV Park with 30 and 50 amp hookups.
- Coachella: no.

What it really costs
Add up three things: the rental, the fest's RV pass, and the running costs. The RV pass is separate from your wristbands at every fest above, and it's usually per RV, not per person. Running costs are fuel (big rigs get poor mileage), generator fuel or a power add-on, mileage fees if your rental caps miles, propane, and dump or water service, which fests like EDC and Lost Lands sell on site. Many rental companies also add a cleaning or "dirty return" fee, and festival dust is exactly what triggers it. Split across 4 to 8 people, it often lands close to a hotel plus shuttle, and you're sleeping 5 minutes from the stage.
When to book
Book the fest RV pass first, then the rental. RV passes are limited and some sell out (Lost Lands 2026 camping sold out, and some Bonnaroo RV areas went to waitlist). Festival weekends are peak rental dates near the venue, so lock the RV as soon as your pass is confirmed, and read the cancellation policy before you pay.
What size to get
Check the fest's site size before the RV's sleep count. Bonnaroo and Electric Forest RV spaces are about 20 by 50 feet, and so are the sites at The Grove at Bass Canyon. Camp EDC gives you 45 feet including any tow vehicle and caps sites at 8 people. Shorter Class C rigs (roughly 20 to 30 feet) are the sweet spot for most crews: easier to drive and park, and they leave room for a canopy. Remember "sleeps 6" means friendly, not roomy.
Generators and power
Rules vary a lot, so check yours:
- Lost Lands: no external generators. RV onboard generators are OK; buy the hookup site if you want steady power.
- Electric Forest: the RV's built-in generator is OK; external gas generators are banned and solar is exempt.
- Shambhala: no generators at all, built-in RV generators included.
- Lightning in a Bottle: the campground rules list generators of any kind as not allowed, so get a powered pass for AC.
- Hulaween: generators only in the Fish Bowl or 80 Acres, freestanding ones 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Bonnaroo: generators under 4kW, one per vehicle, max 10 gallons of gas.
- EDC: no gas generators. Your RV needs AC that runs off its onboard generator, you arrive with a full tank because there's no refueling, and the power add-on needs a 75-foot cable with a 30 or 50 amp connector.
- Coachella: no gas generators in camping at all.
Ask the rental company whether the onboard generator is included or billed by the hour. Where gas generators are out but solar is OK (Electric Forest and EDC, per the rules above), a power station runs fans and charges the camp quietly. In our store: Jackery Explorer 1000 v2, BLUETTI Elite 100 V2 and Goal Zero Yeti 300. Our power basics guide covers the rest.
One-way or round-trip?
Round-trip is simpler and usually cheaper. One-way can make sense if your crew is flying in and the nearest rental depot is in another city, but expect a drop fee and limited dates. A common move is to fly into the nearest big city, pick up round-trip there, and drive the last few hours.

Does Coachella allow RVs?
No. Coachella's official camping page says no RV or motorhome camping.
Can I run a generator at a festival?
