Camp EDC Las Vegas Packing List: Heat, Dust & Clear Bags

Camp EDC (Las Vegas) is a desert camping festival with long walks, hot days, dusty camp lanes, strict bag checks, and late nights. This list is a systems checklist — water, shade, sleep, visibility, then comfort — not a costume dump. Build a trip-length kit in the free Pack Planner.

Not affiliated with EDC, Insomniac, or Camp EDC. Rules, clear-bag policies, and camping maps change every year — check the current official camping guide and bag policy the week you leave.

Camp EDC rules we checked (2026-10-18)

  • ShiftPod or RV. Camp EDC's camping tiers are pre-set ShiftPods or driving in your own RV. We didn't see a bring-your-own-tent option, so check before you buy a tent for this one.
  • Bikes are allowed: one per person, helmet on, and bring a lock. Scooters, skateboards and longboards are not.
  • No metal stakes or hammers. Plastic stakes and rubber mallets are OK.
  • No gas generators. Solar generators are OK. RVs run AC off their onboard generator, and there's no refueling on site.
  • Cooking: small propane grills or stoves with tanks up to 4 lb per group. No butane grills or torches, and no open flames.
  • Also banned: glass, hammocks, solar camping showers, pocket knives, dry ice and camping wind turbines.
  • Shade: Camp EDC provides shade structures and misters. The guidelines we read don't mention bringing your own canopy, so check the current rules before packing one.

The short version (fix these five first)

  1. A clear hydration pack you will actually refill (empty at security if required)
  2. Shade + a sleep setup that works after 3 a.m. returns
  3. Dust basics: goggles, gaiter/wipes, sealed bags for clean clothes
  4. Body lights + a headlamp for camp-to-stage walks
  5. A small camp-repair kit (zip ties, tape, plastic stakes)

1) Clear hydropack first (gate → dancefloor)

Camp EDC / venue security often favors see-through bags. Pack for the strictest bag PDF you might hit that weekend.

2) Heat + shade (Las Vegas afternoon is the boss)

A tent is not a cool room. Build shade and a wind plan before decorating camp.

  • Personal shade only if the current rules allow it, held down with plastic stakes or weights, since metal stakes are banned. Camp EDC also runs shared shade structures and misters.
  • Cooling towel + SPF stick that fits a clear pocket
  • Insulated tumbler for camp (dust lid on)
  • One layer colder than the forecast for desert exits and post-set walks

3) Dust system (eyes → sleep → zippers)

Treat dust like a system, not an afterthought. Your ShiftPod or RV is the bedroom, so the job is keeping grit out of it:

  • Sealed anti-fog goggles + soft cloth in a zip bag
  • Neck gaiter / light wrap for wind events
  • Body wipes + sealed bag for “clean clothes only”
  • Phone pouch / dry bag for the dusty walk back

4) Night visibility (body lights > basket lights)

Put light on your body, not only on the bike basket.

  • Headlamp for camp lanes
  • Bike lights if you ride. Camp EDC allows one bike per person, with a helmet.
  • One small backup light in camp
  • Tasteful wearable glow is fine; visibility is the job

5) Sleep + camp recovery

  • Earplugs + eye mask (camp noise does not stop at sunrise)
  • Sleep layer / pashmina that doubles as a sit pad
  • Wagon for water + ice hauls if your camp is far from services (Camp EDC requires soft-sided, collapsible wagons)
  • Instant coffee / electrolytes for morning reboot (kitchen list below)

6) Camp kitchen (minimum chaos)

You do not need a full backyard BBQ — you need heat, a surface, water discipline, and cleanup:

  • Propane only, with tanks up to 4 lb per group. Butane grills and torches are banned.
  • Keep dishes and drinking water from fighting the same jug
  • Pack-out bags; Leave No Trace is part of the kitchen kit

7) Clear-bag day kit (beyond the hydropack)

If you carry a second clear tote/fanny for merch or layers:

Camp EDC in an RV

RV camping is the other way to stay at Camp EDC. RVs must be Class A, B or C, 19 to 45 feet long. Truck campers and fifth wheels are allowed if they have their own onboard generator or a power add-on, plus AC that runs without the engine on. Arrive with a full tank, because there's no refueling. The power add-on needs your own 75-foot cable, and once you're parked the RV stays put until Monday morning. Camp EDC doesn't rent RVs, so you bring or rent your own.

Why we'd take an RV here: Las Vegas afternoons are the boss, and a rig with working AC is a real escape. You also get a door that locks, a bed off the ground, and a fridge instead of a cooler.
