WE Fest 2027 runs Wednesday 4 to Saturday 7 August 2027 at Soo Pass Ranch in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, according to the festival's official site. It bills itself as a country music and camping festival, and the campgrounds sit on the shores of Lake Sallie and in the meadows and woods around the concert bowl. If you are bringing or renting an RV, the rules below decide what you pack. Here is what the official camping page says, and what we would bring.
Camping is sold separately, and every camper needs a wristband
- No concert ticket includes camping. To camp you need a campsite and a Campground Access wristband for every person, on top of a 3-day admission ticket (VIP, Reserved Seating or General Admission).
- Campground staff assign sites when you arrive. If you want to camp next to friends, the festival says the best way is to arrive together.
- Each site allows one steering unit and one sleeping unit. An RV or motor home counts as both, and any extra vehicle needs its own campsite or parking pass.
- Most sites are about 1,000 square feet, but they vary with the terrain, and your whole setup has to fit inside your site.
- RVs, campers or vehicles longer than 40 feet need two campsites, bought in advance. Northwoods has a strict 30-foot limit, and the festival says its hilly, wooded sites suit units of 28 feet or shorter and to bring leveling blocks.
- WE Fest is primarily 18+; under-18s must be with a parent or legal guardian to camp.
Power: hook-up sites or a generator with a 2 AM cutoff
- Electrical Access campsites come with one 30 amp or 50 amp outlet, depending on the site you buy, in the VIP, Lake Sallie, Northwoods and Blue Ox campgrounds. The festival says more of these sites are being added for 2027 and that they sell out fast.
- Bring your own extension cord to reach the outlet. Check that your rental's shore power cord and any adapter match the 30 or 50 amp site you book.
- Generators are allowed in all campgrounds, but they must be vented above your camper and switched off by 2:00 AM, unless you have an approved medical tag (for example for a CPAP, with a doctor's note sent in advance).
- Quiet hours: the festival bans excessive noise in all campgrounds, especially after 2:00 AM.
If you need quiet power after 2 AM for fans or phones, a battery power station is the simple answer. Our festival generator and power rules guide compares fests, and dry camping vs hookups helps you decide whether the hook-up site is worth it.
Water, showers and RV services
All campgrounds include free showers, bathrooms and water access. The festival FAQ also lists phone numbers for on-site RV pumping and a water truck, so you don't have to leave to dump tanks. Ice, firewood and bottled water are sold near the campground toll booths every day from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. Outside firewood isn't allowed; buy it on site.
Dates and check-in to plan around
- Saturday 31 July and Sunday 1 August: VIP Early Access drop-off only, no overnight camping.
- Monday 2 August: no access to any campground.
- Tuesday 3 August: Early Access opens for all campgrounds (with an Early Access pass), check-in 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
- Wednesday 4 to Saturday 7 August: all campers, check-in 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. You can't check in after the toll booth closes at 10:00 PM.
- County Highway 22 becomes one-way, southbound only, from Thursday 5 to Saturday 7 August, so Blue Ox campers arriving Thursday or later should come in from the north.
- All vehicles are searched when entering campgrounds, parking lots or venue grounds, and again if you leave and come back.
What the campgrounds allow and ban
Allowed, per the festival's camping checklist: tents and rain flies, tarps, tables, chairs, food, ice, coolers, beverages (no glass), generators (vented, off by 2 AM), propane grills (at least 12 inches above the ground or any vegetation), sunscreen, bug spray, towels, a small luggage lock for your tent, lawn games and a pool. Campfires only in fire rings or above-ground fire pits, and only when Minnesota DNR burn rules allow; campsites don't come with a fire ring, so bring your own.
Banned: glass of any kind, kegs, furniture, refrigerators and carpeting, large speakers that disturb neighbors, golf carts, ATVs, scooters, e-bikes and skateboards, drones, fireworks, pets (service animals only), large hammers and off-site firewood. Firearms and weapons are banned everywhere on the ranch.
The concert bowl: clear bag rule
Bags larger than 4.5" x 6.5" must be clear with one compartment, and no bag can be bigger than 12" x 6" x 12". Hydration packs are allowed if empty with no more than one pocket, and you can bring an empty or sealed plastic water bottle, a lawn chair, a blanket, rain gear, earplugs and sunscreen. Coolers, metal containers, outside food and drinks, umbrellas and wagons stay at camp. Our clear bag festival packing list has more on this.
What we would pack
- Clear stadium tote, 12 x 6 x 12, which matches the bowl's maximum bag size
- Camp chair for camp and the concert bowl (lawn chairs are allowed)
- Wide-mouth bottle for camp water fills (for the bowl, bring an empty or sealed plastic bottle; metal containers are banned)
- 2-burner propane stove on a folding camp table to keep it 12 inches off the ground
- Battery power station for quiet power after the 2 AM generator cutoff
- Wheeled cooler, since ice is sold on site daily
- Cable lock for gear left at the site
- SPF 50 sunscreen and a wide-brim sun hat
- Packable rain jacket (women's)
- Quick-dry towels for the free showers
- Loop Quiet earplugs for sleeping near party camps
