Rock am Ring 2027 runs Friday 4 to Sunday 6 June 2027 at the Nürburgring in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, with the campsites around the race track in the Eifel opening two days earlier. It is a weekend-only festival (no day tickets), and the camping is booked separately from the festival ticket, so the packing list depends on which camping ticket you buy. Here is what the official site says, and what we would bring.
Festival ticket and camping ticket are separate
A Weekend Festival Ticket gets you into the infield (the concert area) from Friday 4 June to Sunday 6 June 2027. To sleep on site you also need a Camping + Parking ticket. The main choices the festival lists:
- General Camping: classic festival camping, with parking on the marked car parks.
- Green Camping: the greener option, with quiet hours from 01:00 to 08:00.
- General Power, Green Power and Racetrack Power Camping: tent camping with shared power points. Racetrack Power sits on the track itself, is tents only (no cars or campers) and was listed as sold out.
- Car & Tent: park next to your tent. No power. Vehicles up to 6 m long and 2.8 t; each vehicle needs a Car & Tent badge (plakette), a trailer or caravan needs its own badge, and every person needs a Car & Tent camping ticket.
- Car / Caravan Power: sleep in or by your vehicle with shared power points. Vehicles up to 8 m and 4.2 t. The Nord zone is about 5 km north of the festival site, with shuttles.
- Boxenplatz: a reserved group plot on General Camping (50 m² for up to five people or 100 m² for up to ten), tents only, no power. Everyone still needs a General Camping ticket.
- Utopia Stage Camping and Experience Camping: pre-pitched tents or accommodation, so you don't bring your own tent. Utopia Stage Camping was listed as sold out.
Dates and times to plan around
- Most camping and parking areas open Wednesday 2 June 2027 at 12:00.
- Experience Camping, Racetrack Power Camping and Utopia Stage Camping open at 18:00 that day because they are on the race track.
- All camping and parking closes Monday 7 June 2027 at 12:00.
- Once your car or camper has driven in, it can't be moved or re-parked, and there is no re-entry. Pack everything before you arrive.
The power rule people miss
On the power camping areas, each shared connection is 230 V / 16 A, up to 1,000 W, and only for devices approved for camping and outdoor use. You need your own outdoor extension cable: at least 25 metres, CEE-compatible and splash-proof to IP44. Bring that from a hardware or camping shop at home; it is the one item on this list we don't stock. If you are on a no-power area, plan to run on batteries: a 20K power bank and our phone charging guide.
Ground and weather
The festival says the ground on the campsites varies between meadow, gravel and sand, that not all paths are paved, and that it can get muddy after heavy rain. We pack for a wet weekend in the Eifel either way: Rain & Mud, a footprint under the tent, and boots you don't mind ruining. Our rain and mud packing list has the full rundown.
What goes into the infield
Security checks happen at the infield entrance. You can bring bags smaller than A4, plus small jute or gym bags. The site also says you can't bring your own seating (folding chairs, camping chairs or telescopic stools) into the infield; there is seating near the food areas. So the camp chair stays at camp, and your day carry should be small: a phone strap and a slim belt pouch work well.
What we would pack
- Coleman Dark Room 4 tent and a heavy-duty footprint
- Rebar stakes for gravel, or screw-in anchors for sandy pitches
- Packable rain jacket (women's) and ponchos for the crew
- Muck boots or Crocs rain boots
- 20L dry bag for clothes and electronics
- Loop Quiet earplugs (Green Camping has quiet hours, the rest does not)
- Collapsible wagon for the walk from the car park
- Slim belt pouch and a phone crossbody strap for the small-bag infield
- Camp chair for the campsite only
Check before you pack
Rock am Ring's pages also mention camping maps and check-in opening times that will be published closer to the festival. We haven't found the full 2027 list of allowed and banned items (gas, glass, gazebos) yet, so verify 2027 details in the festival's terms before you buy anything bulky.
