Coachella's desert dust shows up every year: wind in the afternoon, dry grass worn down to dirt by the weekend, and fine grit in everything you own by Sunday. Spring festival shopping starts as soon as the lineup drops, so here's our Coachella and desert-festival dust kit, ready ahead of time.
Coachella 2027 dates
The official site, coachella.com, lists Coachella 2027 for April 9–11 and April 16–18, 2027 in Indio, California. Camping rules and what you can bring are set by the festival, so check the official camping and FAQ pages before packing.
The dust kit
1. Goggles
Sealed foam goggles keep grit out where sunglasses don't. Our picks: Sealed Anti-Fog OTG Dust Goggles (fit over glasses), Yellow / Amber Lens for sunset sets, and Clear Lens for night.
2. Gaiter or wrap
A gaiter pulls up when the wind picks up and doubles as sun cover. Go practical with the BUFF EcoStretch, or festival-ready with the Holographic Mermaid Scales or Galaxy Nebula gaiters. A pashmina like the Achillea Reversible Red Paisley works as a dust layer, shade and a warm wrap once the desert cools off at night.
3. Masks for the dustiest moments
For the windiest afternoons, we keep a 3M N95 10-Pack in the camp bin. Follow the maker's fit instructions.
4. Sun basics
Chinstrap sun hat, SPF 50 face stick for pocket touch-ups, and SPF 50 lip balm.
5. Camp cleanup (for campers)
- Sealed 62-Qt Dust Bin for clean clothes.
- Fitted sheet over your pad or cot as a dust barrier.
- Dustpan & brush and gallon slider bags for phones and snacks.
