A 700ml (about 24 oz) double-wall insulated bottle with a fold-up carry loop on the lid, so you can hang it from a carabiner, a pack strap or your bike. Soft Landings says it keeps drinks ice cold deep into sunrise without sweating condensation, and that it's built to stay attached to you so it doesn't get left behind between sets. Black finish, Soft Landings logo. Built for dusty desert festival camps.

Why we picked this

Warm water in a plastic bottle at 3 p.m. in the desert is how people stop drinking water. After a lot of summers in desert heat, going back to the late '80s, we trust two simple rules: if the water is cold, you'll drink it, and if the bottle is clipped to you, you won't lose it. That's what this bottle is built for: double wall, and a loop you can hang off a carabiner. We've used Soft Landings' drink and recovery mixes ourselves, they work great for us, and we trust the brand. Soft Landings sized this bottle for one sachet of Dance Fuel, and we picked it on that plus the spec sheet. Honest gate note: some venues don't allow metal or insulated bottles through security, and many want bottles empty at the gate, so check your festival's rules. If your gate is strict, use this at camp. Skip it if you already have an insulated bottle you like.

Desert / festival notes

  • Fill it with ice water at camp before you head out. Insulation works best when it starts cold.
  • Water alone doesn't replace salt. For long, sweaty days, pack electrolytes such as Liquid I.V. or LMNT.
  • Rinse the lid and loop hinge after a dust storm. Grit in the threads is what ruins bottle seals.
