Lowlands 2027 Packing List: Camping, Drinks Limit and Campervans (20–22 August)

Camper sitting outside a green dome tent at a festival campsite

Lowlands 2027 is on 20, 21 and 22 August 2027, according to the festival's official site. It is the Netherlands' big three-day camping festival, held at the Walibi Holland event site in Biddinghuizen, about an hour from Amsterdam. The detailed rules below come from the festival's current English info page, which still describes the 2026 edition, so treat them as a strong guide and verify 2027 details before you go.

Camping is included, power is not

  • Regular tent camping is included in every Lowlands ticket; there is no separate camping ticket.
  • Every camping area has hot showers (a shower costs one token), free drinking water taps and real flushing toilets. Lowlands doesn't use portable toilets.
  • There is no electricity on the regular tent camping. You charge your phone at the festival site, where the festival runs charging stations and a power bank swap subscription.
  • Cars are banned on the campsite; you need a parking ticket and walk in from the car park.
  • In 2026 the campsite opened Thursday at 09:00 and closed Monday at noon, and it was open 24 hours a day.
  • On Sunday there is a cloakroom at the campsite entrance where you can store your bags and gear, so you can leave hassle-free that evening.

The drinks rule: bring it all on day one

Your wristband is valid all weekend and you can come and go, but you can only bring drinks (alcoholic or not) the first time you enter the campsite, up to 8 litres per person. Plan your drinks for the whole weekend before you walk in, and bring a refillable bottle for the free water taps: 32oz wide-mouth bottle.

Campervans and caravans

  • Campercamping needs its own ticket on top of the festival ticket. You get a guaranteed pitch of 5 × 7.5 m, with or without a power hook-up.
  • One tent may be added, as long as it fits inside your pitch. A vehicle longer than 7.5 m needs a second campercamping ticket.
  • Only vehicles that meet Dutch road rules are allowed; coaches and converted vans are turned away.
  • Roof tents are only allowed if the tent can't be pitched without its vehicle; you can't pitch it on the ground next to the van.
  • Because of fire rules, gas installations with separate removable gas cylinders aren't allowed. Only fixed, built-in gas tanks are, and you may be asked for a recent inspection certificate.

Van life rules in Europe vary a lot from fest to fest; our UK and EU campervan packing list compares them.

The festival site: small bags only

Large bags are allowed on the campsite but not on the festival site. Bags up to A4 size and about 10 cm thick are fine. Professional cameras (SLRs and cameras with interchangeable lenses) stay at camp, and drones are banned everywhere. You can rent a locker, open 24 hours. Pets aren't allowed, and Lowlands suggests a minimum age of 16.

Getting there

The festival says it's about an hour from Amsterdam Schiphol. Take the train to Lelystad station and a free shuttle bus to the site (about twenty minutes). If you want the last shuttle back to the station, you have to leave before the headliner finishes.
