Group Camp Planning: Who Brings What

Dustproof Supply: gear that survives the festival.

Five people bring five lanterns and no mallet. We've all seen it. This is how we plan a group camp so that doesn't happen.

Rules first. Your festival sets its own rules and they change from year to year. Check the official festival FAQ and the current-year rules before you buy anything on this page. Where our list and the official rules disagree, go with the official rules.

Make one shared list

Use a shared spreadsheet with these columns: item, who owns it, who's bringing it, packed (yes/no), notes. Start from our printable checklist (draft) or the Pack Planner.

Split it like this

  • Shared camp: shade, kitchen, water, lights, repair kit and trash. Each gets one owner.
  • Personal: tent, sleep kit, clothes and anything that touches your face or body.
  • Shared costs: agree on how you'll split them before anyone buys.

Arrival and setup

Whoever arrives first claims the spot and puts up the shade. Pick a meet-up point in case phones die: see keeping your phone charged and safe.

Need gear? Send friends a Fest Registry with only what's still missing, or start from our festival kits.
